This policy covers map-first rental search, public rental listings, saved searches, favourites, enquiries, owner posting, reports, moderation, account settings, and account deletion.
1. Who we are
References to RentMapr, we, us, and our mean the operator of the RentMapr service. References to you mean any visitor, registered user, renter, owner, landlord, authorised representative, admin user, or other person using the service.
For privacy questions, account requests, complaints, data correction, account deletion, or statutory notices, contact us at support@rentmapr.com.
2. Quick summary
This section gives a plain-language overview. The rest of the policy gives fuller detail for the current RentMapr product surface.
- You may browse public rental listings without creating an account where anonymous browsing is enabled.
- You need an account for protected actions such as saving favourites, saving searches, contacting an owner, posting a property, managing your profile, receiving account notifications, and using owner or admin tools.
- Published rental listings are public. They may show property details, photos, rent, deposit, availability, approximate or selected map location, and owner-provided contact options.
- RentMapr does not sell personal information and the current release does not collect card, bank, UPI, loan, health, contacts, calendar, SMS, call log, or document-file data.
- You can request account deletion in the app, through the public delete-account page, or by emailing support@rentmapr.com.
3. Information we collect
We collect information that is reasonably required to operate a rental discovery marketplace, protect users, support the app, and comply with law.
- Account and authentication information, such as name, email address, mobile number, password-auth state, OTP verification state, Google or Apple sign-in identifiers, Firebase user ID, profile photo, and account preferences.
- Profile and settings information, such as profile name, verified mobile number, photo, notification preferences, account-deletion reason choices, and settings changes.
- Property listing information, such as title, property type, bedrooms, bathrooms, furnishing, parking, facing, availability, rent, deposit, maintenance, amenities, description, area, address context, map coordinates, geohash, photos, optional video link, contact phone, contact methods, owner ID, listing status, moderation status, and listing metrics.
- Search and discovery information, such as searched localities, selected map areas, filters, radius settings, saved searches, favourites, recently viewed or enquired properties, and map interactions needed to show rental results.
- Enquiry and contact information, such as renter ID, owner ID, property ID, selected contact method, enquiry status, timestamps, contact-attempt metrics, and any support context needed to investigate a contact flow.
- Reports, moderation, support, and admin information, such as report reasons, reported listing or user references, moderation decisions, admin actions, audit records, support emails, attachments you choose to send, complaint details, and feedback.
- Location and map information, such as approximate device location when you grant permission, searched places, Places autocomplete or details requests, manually selected property pin locations, and locality information derived from map or Places services.
- Device, usage, and diagnostics information, such as IP address, app or browser version, operating system, language, Firebase installation ID, push token, app activity events, crash reports, performance data, security signals, App Check state, and similar technical data.
- Android builds may receive Advertising ID or similar Google/Firebase device identifiers for analytics, measurement, diagnostics, fraud prevention, or security where the operating system and SDKs provide them. RentMapr does not use these identifiers to serve ads in the current release.
- The current release does not process rent payments, deposits, brokerage, subscriptions, boosts, loans, or in-app purchases. If paid features are introduced later, payment details may be handled by payment partners and the policy will be updated as required.
4. Information you should not upload
RentMapr is not designed to collect unnecessary sensitive information. Do not upload Aadhaar, PAN, passport details, bank statements, passwords, OTPs, medical information, biometric data, caste or religion details, children's information, or other sensitive documents unless a clearly marked RentMapr feature expressly asks for them for a lawful purpose.
Property photos and descriptions can accidentally reveal personal information, documents, vehicle numbers, neighbours, family members, or private belongings. Please review content before publishing it.
5. How we use information
We use personal information for lawful, fair, and transparent purposes connected with RentMapr.
- Create, authenticate, secure, recover, and manage accounts.
- Show rental properties, map results, listing details, saved searches, favourites, recent activity, and owner dashboards.
- Help renters and owners contact each other about rental properties through enquiry records, phone or WhatsApp actions, and service notifications.
- Let owners post, edit, pause, publish, delete, and track rental listings.
- Moderate listings and reports, investigate abuse, reduce spam, detect duplicate or unsafe activity, enforce posting-country and safety rules, and protect platform trust.
- Send OTPs, push notifications, saved-search alerts, enquiry updates, listing status updates, account notices, policy notices, and support replies.
- Maintain Remote Config, feature flags, App Check, rate limits, storage rules, security rules, and operational safeguards.
- Measure product usage, diagnose crashes, improve performance, test features, and keep the service reliable without using raw private listing or contact details as analytics payloads.
- Comply with applicable law, lawful requests, audits, tax, accounting, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and consumer protection obligations.
6. Public listings and map visibility
Published property content may be visible to RentMapr users and, on web, to visitors and search engines. This can include property details, photos, rent, deposit, availability, locality, selected map area or pin, and owner-provided contact options.
Map pins, geocoded areas, nearby suggestions, and distance information can be approximate. You should not publish a private residential address, photo, or contact detail unless you have authority to share it for rental discovery.
7. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only where needed to provide RentMapr, protect users, support the service, or comply with law.
- With other users, such as when an owner publishes a listing, a renter sends an enquiry, an owner reviews a lead, or a report requires moderation.
- With service providers for Firebase hosting, authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, cloud storage, Remote Config, push notifications, analytics, crash reporting, App Check, maps, Places search, app stores, security, and customer support.
- With communication apps or device features when you choose to call, email, navigate, open WhatsApp, share a listing, or use another external action. Those external services follow their own terms and privacy practices.
- With payment, verification, or communication partners if those features are enabled in the future and you choose to use them.
- With law enforcement, regulators, courts, government authorities, consumer forums, or dispute bodies where required or permitted by applicable law.
- With professional advisers, auditors, insurers, and successor entities in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or asset transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards.
8. Legal basis, consent, and lawful uses
Where Indian data protection law applies, we process digital personal data for lawful purposes, including with your consent, to provide requested services, for legitimate uses recognised by law, and to comply with legal obligations.
Where other laws such as the GDPR apply, our legal bases may include contract performance, consent, legitimate interests, legal obligation, and protection from fraud or misuse. You may withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, but withdrawal may limit features that need that information, such as location search, notifications, or account-based actions.
9. Cookies, local storage, and SDKs
On web and mobile, RentMapr and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, device storage, SDKs, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, operate maps, protect sessions, measure performance, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
You can control cookies and permissions through your browser, device, or app settings. Some features may not work correctly if essential storage, location, notifications, or security checks are blocked.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards for the nature of the information we process, including authentication, access controls, Firebase security rules, Storage rules, App Check, transport encryption where supported, monitoring, privacy-safe logging, and operational controls.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. You should keep OTPs private, use a secure device, avoid sharing account access, and report suspicious activity to support@rentmapr.com.
11. Retention and deletion
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including active account use, property operations, notifications, support, safety, legal compliance, dispute handling, backups, audit logs, and fraud prevention.
When account deletion is completed through the in-app flow or a verified request, RentMapr deletes or anonymises account-owned records where required and technically possible. This may include profile records, FCM tokens, owned listings, listing images, profile images, favourites, saved searches, notifications, enquiries as renter or owner, reports linked to the account, and the Firebase Auth user.
Some information may be retained where needed for legal obligations, security, fraud prevention, abuse investigation, dispute resolution, audit records, backup integrity, or legitimate business records. Account-deletion feedback may be stored with a hashed user ID so we can improve the product without retaining the direct account identifier.
12. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, update, delete, export, restrict, object to, withdraw consent for, or receive information about certain personal data.
You can update some information in the app. For other privacy requests, email support@rentmapr.com from the email or mobile number linked to your account. We may verify your identity before acting and may refuse or limit requests where the law permits.
13. Communications and notifications
We may send transactional messages such as OTPs, account alerts, listing status updates, saved-search alerts, enquiry updates, owner lead updates, support replies, security notices, and policy notices. You can manage optional push notifications in your device or app settings where available.
Important service, legal, or security communications may still be sent even if optional notifications are disabled.
14. Children
RentMapr is intended for users who can lawfully take part in rental-related communications and contracts. The service is not directed at children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information to RentMapr, contact support@rentmapr.com so we can review and take appropriate action.
15. International processing
RentMapr is India-first, but our cloud, analytics, security, support, app store, and infrastructure providers may process information in India and other countries. Where required, we use contractual, technical, and organisational safeguards for such transfers.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product, legal, security, or operational changes. We will update the last updated date and, where required, provide additional notice or seek consent.
Continued use of RentMapr after an update means the updated policy applies from its effective date.
17. Contact and grievance support
For privacy requests, grievance escalation, account deletion, data correction, or security concerns, email support@rentmapr.com. Please include your registered mobile number or email address, the nature of the request, and any relevant property or enquiry reference.
